Dollars for Dignity Fundraiser 2009
It's time for our annual fund raising push. We ask for $1.00 donations to aid persons in need in being able to afford personal grooming items to prepare for interview. This year more than ever, it is harder for people to compete in the job market.We do not want to give charity to people as it is not dignified or easy for hard working folks to accept.
On the contrary, we encourage people to apply for those jobs, buy an interview outfit and make sure, hair, clothes, shoes and sundries are not impeding their progress by giving gift cards to local stores where they can obtain these items.
Last year we helped 7 people find a respect for themselves and their appearance and gain meaningful employment.
Thanks to everyone who donated and also to our community service people who managed to help others whilst performing their court appointed duties. Well done!
Star Story
John [pseudonym] from NH, was asked to perform community service after making a couple of bad decisions. He spent several weeks at his son's football games, making and selling hot dogs and burgers. He donated $50.00 to the dollars for dignity fund. He helped a fellow human being regain their dignity and their hope. He learned from his mistake and gained some of his self respect back knowing that out of his bad times came another chance for someone else. Thank you John.
