NCIOM dignity fund
This fund is not a charity. What we ask for is a donation of funds to cover costs of toiletries and on special occasions, clothing for job seekers who are looking to transition from a welfare/unwaged situation into an employed status. We accept gift cards to pharmacies and to stores such as WalMart that sell low cost personal grooming items and clothing/shoes.
We do not give donations to persons who are in need, there are plenty of organizations and food pantries. We believe that dignity comes from being given the means to improve your own circumstances. We encourage the seeking of employment by those able to do so by providing them with grooming items to make a good impression on the day of interview. Job seeker clubs will aid in setting up interviews and food banks will feed people, but often there is a shortage of grooming items that may be the difference between looking like a prospective employee candidate or a desperate one.
Donations can be made via gift cards to NCIOM head office. Because we are not a charity, we pay taxes on all donations and cannot offer tax exemptions to those donating. This is truly a 'teaching a man to fish' benefit.
